Hot, Bothered & Still Making Sh*t Happen

On Monday, August 24th, Poppy Candid is back with Hot, Bothered & Making Sh*t Happen and we're going THERE — menopause, pelvic floors, AI-era health advocacy, and the midlife topics we were taught to keep quiet. All of it, on the table.

We are the WebMD generation. Look up one symptom and pretty soon you've diagnosed yourself with an incurable disease, or traced it back to something you ate. A lot of us give perimenopause the same treatment: convinced it's terrifying, or convinced it's nothing. Neither is good enough.

70% of OB-GYN residency programs in the U.S. don't teach menopause at all, and the doctors who are certified in midlife women's health are wildly outnumbered by the women who need them. So we do what a lot of us have always done: become our own researchers, and hope we get it right.

That's why this Poppy Candid is bringing both sides of the table: a self-taught patient advocate who found her own answers, and a pelvic health physical therapist and bestselling author who's spent her career being exactly the kind of support women wish they'd had sooner. Lived experience and clinical expertise, together, covering the same ground from both directions.

On August 24, Poppy Candid is going THERE: menopause, perimenopause, pelvic floor health, permission, and all the questions we were taught not to ask out loud, let alone at work. We're not softening this one. We'll also be building care kits for Project Beauty Share, supporting women who are unhoused or in shelters.

Join us August 24 for Hot, Bothered & Making Sh*t Happen, the conversation a lot of us have been having alone, and shouldn't have to anymore.

On Resilience

April 27, 2026

We’ve been sold a narrow version of resilience that looks a lot like self-abandonment: power through, be agreeable, absorb more, make it work.

But that is not real resilience. Instead, it’s about having meaningful relationships and the willingness to seek help when needed (without guilt), recovering from a setback by reframing perspective (goodbye negative self-talk!), managing our energy and prioritizing health (sleep anyone?) and establishing clear boundaries that ensure alignment with our values (protecting your yes).

On April 27, we brought together experts in conflict and burnout recovery, workplace culture, equity-centered storytelling, and community healing and impact for an honest, human-centric, truth-telling conversation on resilience.

The Hard Stuff: When Life Collides with Work

October 28, 2025

Life doesn’t pause when the hard stuff hits — and neither does work. How do you lead when you’re running on fumes? Show up to a meeting when your heart is somewhere else? Balance doctor’s appointments with deadlines, caregiving with a more-than-9-to-5, or grief with growth?

At this Poppy Candid, we got real about navigating professional demands while dealing with personal challenges – from grief to health crises to caregiving and heartbreak.

The Permission Session

You don’t stop being human when you log on. You’re a leader, partner, parent, planner, dreamer — and yet the world so often expects you to be just your job title the moment you click “Join Meeting.”

As we rolled into the busy fall season, with so much happening around the world as well as in our own backyards, and with so many people currently navigating career shifts, it was time for an honest conversation about what it means to protect your energy, renegotiate your role, and resist the myth that pushing through is always the answer.

Staying Grounded in a Shifting Career Landscape

The world of work is unpredictable. Layoffs. Restructures. Resumes getting dusted off just in case. Whether you’re deep in uncertainty or feeling the ripple effects, one thing is clear: we’re all navigating something

On June 24, we talked about what’s really happening in today’s job landscape; how to make career moves and decisions with intention; ways to stay grounded and calm when everything feels chaotic; and why your nervous system matters just as much as your resume.
